Sandra graduated from the MSc Audiology programme in University College Cork with a first-class honours in 2020. She previously worked as an Irish Sign Language (ISL) teacher for three years after graduating from her undergraduate degree from Trinity College Dublin in ISL Teaching. During this time,
Sandra visited homes of children who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing and taught ISL to them and their families. In addition, she taught evening courses, Medical students in University College Dublin and Transition Year students. Due to a personal hearing loss, Sandra visited an Audiologist every year and it was from this experience that her interest in Audiology grew, as well as visiting children who had hearing aids and Cochlear implants fitted.
After completing the MSc Audiology Programme, she worked in the HSE Community Audiology service and has experience working in both paediatric and adult clinics. Her areas of interest include vestibular assessment, hearing assessment, and particularly hearing rehabilitation. Sandra is passionate about promoting ISL rights for Deaf and hard of hearing adults and children and is actively involved in the Irish Deaf Community.
She is a member of the Irish Audiology Association and the Irish Society of Hearing Aid Audiologists
